We Are Hiring!

The San Bruno Community Services Department is hiring for the 2017-2018 school year for the After School Program. We are looking for Recreational Leaders to assist with homework, lead activities, and plan enrichment classes. Candidates need to commit to working Monday through Friday 2:30 PM - 6:00 PM. Please apply at the Veterans Memorial Building located at 251 City Park Way or call (650) 616-7180 for more information.

We are also looking for volunteer coaches for male and female athletes.
-2nd-8th graders: Flag Football & Basketball
-6th-8th graders: Volleyball, Cross-Country, Track & Field, Badminton, Tennis & Futsal

Concession sales will be provided by the San Bruno Lions Club in August and by the Rotary and Interact Club in September. The San Bruno Chamber of Commerce will sell beer and wine.

Grab a blanket or a chair, your friends and family, and your dancing shoes! We hope to see you there.

Bilingual Parent-Child Activity Group/Grupo de Actividades para Padres e Hijos Friday 10 AM (ages 0-2) For children ages 0-2 and their parent or caregiver. Para niños de 0 a 2 años de edad y sus padres o cuidador principal. Presented by StarVista and First 5, San Mateo County.

San Bruno Library Homework Center

Opens Tuesday, September 5
Ongoing hours are:
Monday thru Wednesday 3:00PM-6:00PM
Thursdays 1:30PM-6:00PM

Closed on Library and San Bruno Park School District holidays
The San Bruno Library Homework Center is a free, drop-in program that provides a place for students from K-8th grade to do homework. There are computers to support schoolwork and volunteer homework helpers. Registration is required and is accepted on an ongoing basis. It is not after-school care.

Do you want to make a difference for elementary and junior high students? Like helping your community? Enjoy working with kids? Have 2 hours a week free in the afterschool hours? Then join us as a Volunteer at the San Bruno Library Homework Center! This opportunity is available for people 14 years old through adults who can dedicate 2 hours/week during Homework Center open hours (M-W 3:00—6PM; TH 1:30—6PM) for at least one semester.

All volunteers must have proof of a clear TB result within the last two years. There is a free testing option available by special arrangement. All adult volunteers will be fingerprinted for LiveScan (provided by the City of San Bruno). Training dates are: Wednesday, August 30, 4-5PM; OR Thursday, September 7, 4-5PM; OR Tuesday, September 19, 4-5PM. Paws For Tales

Paws for Tales is the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA's (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) reading to dogs program where therapy dogs and their handlers work with children (ages 5 and up) in library and school settings. Studies show that children who are reluctant to read in front of peers because of their skills are much less anxious with an animal present. Dogs offer unconditional love: they are not intimidating or judgmental. They are the perfect reading companion. Just drop in!
