September - Preparedness Month: Sign Up for SMC Alert & Win!

In light of the current devastation in Texas due to the impacts from Hurricane Harvey as well as the wildfires burning throughout California, Oregon and surrounding western states forcing evacuations, the County's Office of Emergency Services reminds San Mateo County residents to review and finalize their emergency preparedness plans.

Start by joining us in participating in National Preparedness Month by helping our Office of Emergency Services reach 75,000 SMC Alert subscribers by Sept. 30, 2017. Sign up for SMC Alert to receive emergency notifications via phone, email or text and you'll have a chance to win a prize. Sign up for SMC Alert here: smcalert.info.

Throughout September, individuals who sign up for SMC Alert will be automatically entered to win daily and weekly giveaways like a limited edition SMC Alert portable phone charger or disaster prep kit! All winners will be randomly chosen by County of San Mateo staff members and contacted via email and/or phone.

Public safety officials use SMC Alert to alert you and your family in the event of natural or man-made disasters and during an emergency provide life-saving information.
