Suspect Behind Most Recent Peninsula Hold-Up Likely Behind San Bruno Crime, Too: Police

Police believe the same suspect is behind a series of recent robberies throughout the Peninsula.

BELMONT, CA- Belmont police are searching Monday for whomever is responsible for an armed robbery that happened in town over the weekend.

The robbery occurred around 9:45 p.m. at a Shell station in the 2000 block of Ralston Avenue.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, but responding officers were unable to locate him - even with the assistance of two K9 units. Investigators believe he may have also used a vehicle.

“Belmont PD officers searched the area with the assistance of units from the San Mateo Police and the San Mateo County Sheriff, including two K9s,” Belmont Police Captain Patrick Halleran said in a news release. “The suspect was not found and it is believed he fled the area in a vehicle.”

The suspect was described as a light-skinned black man standing 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds, last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt, gray pants, black gloves and a ski mask. Investigators believe he may be the same suspect from several robberies across the Peninsula.

“This appears to be the same suspect who committed robberies in Burlingame earlier in the evening as well as robberies in San Bruno, Millbrae, Redwood City and Menlo Park earlier in the month,” Halleran said.

Halleran said police are working on obtaining security video camera footage of the incident.
