Beach Hazard for Coastal Areas of San Diego, Orange County Announced
The NWS has announced a coastal area hazard through July 1.

San Clemente, CA — High surf is in today's forecast along Southern California's coastline, according to the National Weather Service.
A long period of south swell will bring above-average surf and strong rip currents Thursday, June 30, through the evening of Friday, July 1.
"Waves and surf of up to 6 feet, with sets to 7 feet are expected along south to southwest facing beaches," the NWS report said.

The impacts are strong rip currents and longshore currents leading to hazardous swimming conditions.
"Rip currents may pull swimmers out to sea. Sneaker waves can suddenly wash people off of rocks and jetties," the report said.

Beachgoers are advised to take precautions.
"Obey signs and flags, and talk to a lifeguard before going in or near the water," the NWS said. "Always talk to a lifeguard."
