Nature Commission objects to a weakening of Coastal Commission staff
Keep the Coastal Commission strong.

Since 1973, the Coastal Commission has been the protector of last resort on so many environmental issues.
But the Commission’s executive director might lose his job due to the politics of greed and over-development.
Consider a few of the agency’s achievements:

-The toll road would have been rammed through San Onofre State Park. I was there at Del Mar Fairgrounds in 2008 to witness that important denial.
-Marblehead here in San Clemente which would have been a giant new densely packed plateau, though the still overly-large outlet mall is bad enough.

-Beach access through many communities such as San Clemente would likely be almost non-existent.
-Large areas of California’s central and northern coasts would be locked up behind ”estates”.

The point is simple: Leave the current staff in place. Charles Lester should keep his job.
