• San Clemente Already Tried Taxing Itself to Save Its Beach Once. Voters Said No. Now They're Being Asked Again (realtytoday.com) — San Clemente voters are being asked again to approve Measure M, a 1% sales tax increase that would fund beach erosion control and wildfire protection after a similar tax narrowly failed in 2024. The measure aims to help restore the city's shrinking beaches and protect the vulnerable coastal rail line, but even supporters acknowledge it won't fully cover long-term costs, leaving the city reliant on larger state and federal funding.
