With the California drought, the government is rapidly adapting new practices and regulations to help get us through this difficult time. While residents of California have various restrictions in different counties, commercial businesses also have to do their fair share of water saving. If you own a small business or are an office manager in California, you may want to take note of the following regulations:
- No washing down sidewalks or driveways
- Watering outdoor landscapes in a way that contributes to excess runoff of water is prohibited
- Operating a fountain or decorative water feature (Exception: the water is a part of a recirculating system)
- Irrigating turf or ornamental landscapes during and 48 hours after rainfall is prohibited
- Food service establishments may only serve water to customers when requested
- Operators of hotels and motels must provide guests with the option of choosing not to have towels and linens laundered daily and prominently display notice of this option
- All leaks must be fixed within 72 hours
- No watering of public medians
