• Homicide investigation underway after fatal stabbing in San Juan Capistrano (southoctimes.com) — A San Juan Capistrano man was fatally stabbed near Calle Santa Barbara and Los Rios Street on Oct. 7, and sheriff's investigators are asking residents for tips. Several people were detained at the scene, but no arrests or motive have been announced. Anyone with information can contact Orange County Sheriff's Dispatch or leave an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip.
   

• Groups push Orange County to allow access to local rivers, creeks (ocregister.com) — Orange County groups are challenging a county ordinance that bans public contact with inland waters, including San Juan Creek, which once sustained Acjachemen villages around today's San Juan Capistrano. Tribal leaders and environmental advocates say carefully managed access for kayaking, fishing, and cultural education could revive connections to these waterways while pressuring officials to keep them cleaner and healthier.
