1 Wounded, 3 Weapons Seized After Shooting On 85th Avenue
The Oakland Police Department said its gunshot detection system alerted officers to the incident.
OAKLAND, CA — Oakland police recovered three guns following a shooting that wounded one early this month, police said Thursday.
The shooting occurred shortly after noon May 1 in the 1400 block of 85th Avenue.
Officers responded following an alert given by city's gunshot detection system. When officers arrived, they located a wounded person inside a vehicle, according to police.

Officers also found evidence of a shooting. The victim suffered at least one gunshot wound, police said. He was taken to a hospital.
When officers and firefighters were treating the victim, they saw a loaded gun inside the vehicle, police said.

During an investigation, police reviewed surveillance video that showed two people placing what appeared to be two guns in a parked vehicle.
Officers obtained a search warrant and recovered the two guns during a search of the vehicle, according to police.
Officers have taken more than 500 guns off the streets this year, police said. Alerts by the city's gunshot detection system are down 9 percent from the same time last year, according to police.
The city's gunshot detection system has sent out nearly 3,100 alerts this year, police said.
