CHP Writes 80 Tickets On I-880 Thursday

BAY AREA — If you regularly travel on I-880, you've seen them — the HOV lane cheaters. As you crawl along at 5 mph, a car with only one person in it zips past in the HOV lane. It's a major source of grumbling, the California Highway Patrol acknowledges.

On Thursday they did something about those cheaters — motorcycle patrol officers set up an Enforcement Operation. The result: 80 tickets and two towed cars.

The CHP has been busy lately. Last Friday, they targeted speeders on Highway 4.
