December Berries: Photos Of The Day
Birds will be flocking to this yard with two kinds of bush berries.
SAN LEANDRO, CA — The buses in Miyo Burnett's San Leandro yard have produced berries.
The first photo shows a Variegated Holly (Ilex aquifolium) bush with red berries. The second is an Indian Hawthorne (Rhaphiolepis indica) shrub, which grew from a volunteer seed. "Beautiful pink flowers in spring/summer and these abundant, dark blue berries in winter," Miyo said in an email. "Birds and deer love these berries though, fortunately for the deer, I've seen none wandering down my San Leandro street."
