105th Anniversary Observance of the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake at Main Library

Join us for a fascinating lecture given by David Kiehn, film historian of the Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum, as he discusses his remarkable discovery regarding the famous and hauntingly surreal silent film "A Trip Down Market Street." So remarkable, in fact, that Morley Safer of CBS "60 Minutes" fame interviewed him for a segment which aired on October 17, 2010!

After Mr. Kiehn's discussion, this film will be shown, accompanied by pianist Bruce Loeb. For dramatic contrast, another silent film will be shown that graphically recorded the earthquake's devasting aftermath; again, accompanied by Mr. Loeb.

Then stay for Ken Joy's critically acclaimed documentary "Disaster by the Bay: The Great San Francisco Earthquake and Fire of 1906. This public screening will be presented courtesy of House of Joy Publishing.
