Fascinating Film About Bees February 17

Bal Theater in San Leandro hosts screening of film on the global bee crisis.

The award winning documentary, "Queen of the Sun, What are the bees telling us" will be screened at the February 17 at 7 p.m. Cost is $5 per person for admission.

The film offers a riveting alternative look at the global bee crisis and was directed by Taggart Siegel who also directed "The Real Dirt on Farmer John".

According to the film's website Siegel documents the catastrophic disappearance of bees and the mysterious world of the beehive in this engaging and ultimately uplifting film.  The director is able to weave an unusual and dramatic story of the heartfelt struggles of beekeepers, scientists and philosophers from around the world including Michael Pollan, Gunther Hauk and Vandana Shiva. Together they reveal both the problems and the solutions in renewing a culture in balance with nature.
