Free Laptops Available For Checkout At San Leandro Library

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Is your laptop on on the fritz, or your kids need a laptop to complete an important school assignment?

The San Leandro Public Library has 25 laptops and 25 4G LTE mobile hotspot kits with free, unlimited 4G LTW data plans available for checkout.

The City of San Leandro Information Technology Division received a grant from MobileBeacon. The goal is to provide equitable resources and opportunities to community members with limited access to technology.

Each kit contains one laptop that runs Windows 10, and one hotspot device that allows residents to connect up to 10 devices for free. The kits are available on a first come first served basis, and can be checked out for two weeks. You cannot request a hold, and no renewals are allowed.

The checkout is restricted to residents who are 18 years or older and have a valid San Leandro Public Library card.

Remember to save all information on a USB before returning, as the library wipes each device clean when it is returned. This will protect any personal or financial information that may be on the computer.
