Looking To Dump An Old Mattress? We Have the Place ...

A free, recycling collection-drive is set for Saturday, July 28 for Alameda County residents.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA – Don’t dump it, recycle it -- your old mattress, that is.

On Saturday, July 28, Alameda County residents can drop off their used, unwanted mattresses and box springs at a free mattress-collection event, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ashland Square, held in partnership with Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley and the Bye Bye Mattress Program.

When it comes to mattress recycling, California is a national leader, and in the past two years, more than 2 million used mattresses and box springs were collected, meaning about 70 million pounds of steel, fiber, wood and foam were diverted from state landfills.
