No ID Yet For Pedestrian Killed By Train in San Leandro

The victim was hit by an Amtrak Capital Corridor train heading to Sacramento.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — A person died in a collision with a northbound Amtrak train passing through San Leandro on Tuesday night, the Alameda County coroner's bureau confirmed today.

The person was struck at 8:06 p.m. at Thornton and Martinez streets.

None of the crew or 22 passengers on board Capitol Corridor Train No. 546 were injured, Amtrak spokeswoman Kimberly Woods said.

The train was traveling from San Jose and Sacramento and resumed its trip at 10:04 p.m.

The coroner's bureau won't release the name of the person until their next of kin has been notified.
