Pearl Harbor Vet Has Stolen Item Replaced

92-year-old survivor gets a new sextant.

 

When a thief stole Mickey Ganitch's Pearl Harbor memorabilia from a truck  parked at Harry's Hofbrau, the 92-year-old sneak attack survivor lost many valued items, including a sextant.

Today, it was replaced by former San Leandro resident Mike Santos.

The gift was given at San Leandro Police Department headquarters today.

Police Department spokesman Lt. Jeff Tudor said Santos, who is from a military family, felt distraught that someone would take a sentimental object from
"someone who did so much for this country."
