Police Located Truck Involved in Fatal Hit-And-Run, Seeking Suspect

Police found the truck parked outside of a Hayward home after receiving calls leading them to the suspect vehicle.

Police have located and seized a black Toyota pickup truck that fled the scene after fatally striking a San Leandro woman Thursday morning. After releasing surveillance images and information to the public, police received calls leading them to the suspect vehicle, which they found parked outside of a Hayward home, according to Lt. Bob McManus.

Although the truck is now in police custody and will be forensically processed for evidence, police have not yet located a suspect, McManus said. On Thursday at about 9 a.m., 26-year-old Madeleine Moore was struck at the intersection of Hesperian Boulevard and Thornally Drive as she crossed the street, according to police.

Moore was taken to the hospital following the collision, but later died from her injuries, police said.
