Recycling Wizard Visits St. Leander

Christine Chan, Development Director at , has shared photos with Patch of a special assembly the San Leandro school held to kick off Earth Day Week last month.

On hand for the event was Doug the Recycling Wizard, who explained to the youngsters the important environmental rules the 4 Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rot/Compost).

His call to be more environmentally conscious was then reinforced afterwards by teachers who incorporated earth-friendly themes in their own classrooms.  First graders at the school discussed how to make the earth cleaner, for example, and second grade students created an object using recycled items.
