Man Shot Near Lake Merritt Passes Away [UPDATE]

OAKLAND, CA – UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 12, 3:25 p.m.

A man who was shot several blocks east of Lake Merritt this morning has died, police said.

The shooting was reported at 7:14 a.m. in the 800 block of East 18th Street and the man was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Oakland police haven't yet provided any additional details about the shooting.

A man was injured in a shooting in Oakland this morning, police said.

The shooting was reported at 7:14 a.m. in the 800 block of East 18th Street, several blocks east of Lake Merritt, and the man was taken to a hospital.

No other information about the case was immediately available.
