San Leandro Teens Robbed At Gunpoint, No Arrests
The teens were robbed in separate incidents. The suspects got away with two school backpacks.
SAN LEANDRO, CA — San Leandro Police are seeking leads in two separate robberies that happened Thursday, the second at gunpoint.
The robberies happened just 10 minutes apart, about three hours after school let out. All of the victims were high school students.
The first robbery happened around 5:25 p.m. in the 500 block of Callan Avenue. Three men approached a 16-year-old in an open area of an apartment complex where he was robbed of his school backpack.

Then around 5:35 p.m. in the 200 block of Oakes Boulevard, two men brandished a handgun and demanded backpacks from 16- and 17-year-old teens. One victim handed over the backpack while the other yelled for help.
The suspects left without getting the second victim’s belongings.

No arrests have been announced.
San Leandro Police have increased patrols with marked vehicles around all school campuses and will have covert officers in the area before school starts and after classes let out.
They also issued these safety tips:
- If you walk to school, walk with a friend or family member.
- Report all suspicious activity, whether on or off-campus.
- Always be aware of your surroundings, do not be preoccupied with digital devices.
- Be familiar with the general layout of the buildings and walkways (walk around campus during the day to familiarize yourself)
