Truck Driver Killed in I-880 Big Rig Crash
The crash early Wednesday caused a major traffic backup.

SAN LEANDRO, CA - The driver of a big rig tanker was killed in a fiery crash in San Leandro Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash snarled morning rush hour traffic.
The tanker carried used motor oil, which went up in flames. One 911 caller reported seeing an explosion. The victim's name has not been released.
Contaminated water from the firefighting effort washed down storm drains as firefighters battled the flames. The state department of fish and game has been notified. The sewers were flushed out and soil that absorbed oil will be removed and replaced.

Big rig traffic was allowed on westbound I-580 as a result of the crash, adding congestion there as well.
