Teachers to Hold "Grade-In" This Afternoon at Bayfair Center
Teachers around the Bay Area are holding similar events to bring attention to the state budget crisis affecting schools.

Teachers in San Leandro and around the Bay Area are holding "grade-ins" at local malls this afternoon to show how much work teachers put in after school and to educate the public about the state budget crisis.
The events will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at in San Leandro, Corte Madera Town Center in Marin County, Stoneridge Shopping Center in Pleasanton, South Shore mall in Alameda, and the Fremont Hub. Teachers will also be at the Eastridge, Oakridge and Valley Fair malls in San Jose.

"The idea is to engage the public about the state budget crisis hurting schools and our communities in a very low-key manner," said California Teachers Association spokesman Mike Myslinski.
Myslinski said the "grade-ins" won't be disruptive.
