Truck Driver Arrested in Wreck that Killed Motorcyclist on International Boulevard

BREAKING: The man was arrested for suspicion of felony driving under the influence.

OAKLAND, CA – A truck driver has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a collision late Saturday night that killed a motorcyclist, police said.

The collision was reported in the 8700 block of International Boulevard at 11:08 p.m. on Saturday.

Police said the truck driver was headed eastbound on International Boulevard and began to turn northbound onto Auseon Way when it collided with the motorcyclist, who was traveling westbound on International Boulevard.

Paramedics responded to the scene, but the motorcyclist, who was identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau today as 31-year-old Phitsanu Muncy of Pittsburg, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the truck driver was injured in the collision and investigators determined that he had been driving under the influence of alcohol so he was arrested on felony driving under the influence.

Police said it's not known at this time if drugs were also a factor in the collision.
