The following email reportedly sent today at 9:24 a.m. from Alameda High School administration and the principal to school parents was forwarded to Patch:
"Hornet Families,
"This morning at approximately 8:15 am, Alameda High School was informed that the police had received a call and the caller was speaking Russian. They could not decipher or translate what was said in a timely manner but heard a reference to danger at Alameda High School.
"The call came from outside the country. As a precaution, APD recommended a Shelter in Place and had officers come to the school to do a search.
"While conducting the search, Alameda PD also called the caller back with a Russian translator and determined that there was not a danger to the school and so the Shelter and Place was lifted.
"The Shelter (in) place was lifted at approximately 9:10 am. Because of our block schedule, students’ academic day should not have been disturbed. If any student is feeling uneasy about this situation, I encourage them to speak to you or to their counselor.
