Water Main Break Repaired

A 1940s cast iron pipe failed, according to the East Bay Municipal Utility District.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — All water customers have service again following a main break early this morning in unincorporated Alameda County near San Leandro, according to the East Bay Municipal Utility District.

As of 2:26 p.m., service had been restored to 12 customers near 164th Avenue between Helo Drive and Gordon Way where the break occurred.

The break occurred in a 6-inch cast iron pipe from the 1940s, utility district spokeswoman Jenesse Miller said.

The break affected traffic as California Highway Patrol officers directed vehicles around some closed lanes.
