Witnesses Sought In Crash That Killed San Leandro Woman, 75
The victim was hit in a crosswalk March 31 on East 14th Street. The driver is cooperating, police said.

SAN LEANDRO, CA – Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed a car crash that killed a 75-year-old woman last month in San Leandro to come forward, police said Wednesday.
On March 31, officers responded at 4:55 p.m. to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian on East 14th Street and West Juana Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found a woman suffering from serious injuries. Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital, where she later died, according to police.

The victim was identified as Helen Lally of San Leandro.
"We offer our condolences to Ms. Lally's family and friends. This is truly a tragic loss," Lt. Robert McManus said in a statement. "Anytime we lose a member of our San Leandro community, it has the potential to impact
everyone."

Investigators determined Lally was in the crosswalk when she was struck, according to police.
Although the driver that struck Lally has cooperated with the investigation and drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as a factor, investigators are continuing to look into what caused the crash. Once a cause is determined, investigators will decide whether or not criminal charges will be filed, police said.
