The woman was taken to the hospital as a precaution, according to police.

A woman was taken to the hospital after being struck by a car while walking in a crosswalk in San Leandro this morning, according to police. The incident was reported at East 14th Street and Dutton Avenue at 8:40 a.m. today, police said. First responders said the victim was conscious, breathing and walking around at the scene of the accident.
She initially refused medical attention, but was persuaded to go to the hospital just to get checked out, according to police spokesman Lt. Robert McManus.
“They convinced her because of the fact that she was struck and knocked down,” McManus said.
