School Board Meeting: District Budget, Funding and Donations

The San Marino Unified School District Board of Education will review the 2011-12 fiscal year budget among other things Tuesday night.

The is holding its second Board of Education meeting of the month Tuesday night. The session open to the public begins at 7:30 p.m. in the SMUSD board room.

Item 9a.
The Board can vote on GASB 54 Resolution #20 and Accounting Board Policy, which states:

  • The fund balance of the District may be committed for a specific source by formal action of the Board of Education.
  • Amendments or modification to the committed fund balance must be approved by formal action of the Board of Education with a majority vote.
  • The Board of Education hereby delegates authority to assign fund balance for a specific purpose to the Superintendent or his designee of the District.
  • The Board intends to maintain a minimum balance of 5% of the District’s general fund annual operating expenditures. If the fund balance drops below 5% it shall be recovered at a rate of 1% minimally, each year.
