Caltrain Delays Caused by Damaged Crossing Gate
It was a trying trip home Tuesday for hundreds of commuters who experienced significant delays.
Commuters experienced half-hour delays on Caltrain Tuesday evening after a southbound train struck a damaged crossing gate in Menlo Park, according to transit district officials.
Train #264 struck the crossing gate at Oak Grove Avenue around 5:50 p.m., according to San Mateo County Transit District spokeswoman Tasha Bartholomew. The train’s air hose was damaged, so passengers were off-boarded and transferred to other trains.
Southbound train #268 was coupled with #264 to push it to a safe location and clear the tracks, according to Bartholomew.
