'Dangerous' Suspect In Custody After Fleeing And Jumping Into Bay: Police
The suspect entered the waters of the San Francisco Bay near Cooley Landing located along the city's shore.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Multiple law enforcement agencies coordinated to help get custody of a suspect who allegedly fled police in East Palo Alto on Saturday and jumped into the San Francisco Bay.
The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said in a social media post that on Saturday morning, it received a request for assistance after a "dangerous" suspect allegedly fled from East Palo Alto police officers on foot before entering the waters of the San Francisco Bay near Cooley Landing located along the city's shore.
Deputies and three K-9 teams from the sheriff's office responded and were positioned along the shore while a California Highway Patrol helicopter provided aerial support overhead. A boat from the Menlo Park Fire Protection District brought the suspect on board and police officers took the suspect into custody.

A video of the event from the sheriff's office showed a helicopter hovering over the suspect who was swimming above water in the Bay, not far from the shore.
"This was a coordinated effort involving multiple agencies -- all committed to working together to protect our community," the sheriff's office said.
