Drugs, Ammo Found On 2 Men In SMC Traffic Stop: Police
Two men with prior drug offenses were arrested after an officer said they found suspected methamphetamine during a routine traffic.
SAN MATEO, CA — A traffic stop for a registration violation on Thursday in San Mateo led to the arrest of two Bakersfield men on multiple charges, including drug possession, ammunition possession by a prohibited person, and property crimes.
At around 9:51 p.m., a San Mateo police officer said they pulled over a driver near S. Norfolk Street and Fashion Island Boulevard for a car with a suspended registration. In the car was the driver, Alvaro Ramos, 47, and passenger, Luis Luque, 45, police said.
During the stop, officers said they saw suspected methamphetamine in plain view. A search uncovered additional narcotics, drug paraphernalia, ammunition and a driver’s license and credit cards belonging to another individual, police said.

Ramos and Luque had prior drug possession convictions, and Ramos was also identified as a convicted felon, making his possession of ammunition illegal, police said.
Ramos was booked into San Mateo County Jail on charges including forging or altering vehicle registration, being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance with two or more prior convictions, possession of unlawful paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license, and misappropriation of property, police said.

Luque was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with two or more prior convictions, possession of unlawful paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance, polcie said.
