Elegant Terns Dress Up The San Mateo Shoreline: Photo Of The Day
This large gathering of shorebirds made it difficult for a newcomer to find a place to land!

SAN MATEO, CA — Michael G. Pagano took his camera to the Bay Trail at Coyote Point Yacht Harbor in San Mateo in September where he found a flock of elegant tern. The birds are probably long gone as they winter in Peru, Ecuador and Chile. They will be back in the spring as their breeding grounds include California.
