The Family Science & Astronomy Festival will feature family-friendly planetarium shows, science demonstrations, hands-on workshops and telescope viewing of the night sky.
The festival also will include a presentation by Alex Filippenko, "one of the world's most highly-cited astronomers," speaking on "Dark Energy and the Runaway Universe." Filippenko is a UC Berkeley astronomy professor who was named National Professor of the Year in 2006. He was part of the research teams that discovered the accelerating expansion of the universe.
Most events will be in the college's Science Building (36) and Planetarium. Filippenko's Lecture will be in the college's Theatre in Building 3.
