Presentation by Dawn Spears, Black Americana Doll Collector

Join us for a special Black History presentation. Dawn Spears is a self taught Black Americana Collector who has been collecting and researching Black Americana for 17 years. She will be speaking on the legacy of black dolls, the evolution of black dolls, the communication spoken through these black dolls and about the makers of these dolls. Dawn will discuss how a postive self-image for African American girls can grow from a Princess Tiana doll and others like her. She will show how the Bessie Coleman doll can leave a positive impression on young girls regardless of their ethnicity.
