Red Flag Warning Issued for San Mateo County
Dry thunderstorms could trigger fast-moving fires in the area.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning for San Mateo County for the next two days, starting at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Dry thunderstorms are expected to develop Thursday and persist overnight into Friday morning, increasing the chance for wildfire, according to the NWS.
The weather service detected a low pressure system developing over Montery and San Benito counties and moving north toward the San Francisco peninsula.

Thunderstorms threat will be more prevalent in the afternoon into the evening and lingering into Friday morning, the NWS said. These storms will be dry, the NWS said. Meaning, they will produce a lot of thunder and lightning and all the precipitation will have evaporated before hitting the ground.
There is also threat of isolated downward wind bursts.

The warning is in effect from 2 p.m. Thursday to 11 a.m. Friday.
During a Red Flag warning, outdoor burning is not recommended as any fires that develop could spread rapidly, according to the NWS.
