San Mateo County Reports 2 New Coronavirus Deaths, 91 Cases

There were 32 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in San Mateo County as of Tuesday, of which 11 were being treated in intensive care units.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County Health reported two additional coronavirus-related fatalities Tuesday.

The latest announcement brings the countywide coronavirus-related death toll to 108.

The county reported 91 new coronavirus cases Tuesday, bringing the countywide COVID-19 case count to 3,232.

Elsewhere around the Bay Area and beyond, Alameda County officials are reversing their plan to move the county to greater socialization and business activity amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, health officials said Monday, citing an increase in hospitalizations from the virus and a rising rate of cases.

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors and Public Health Department held a joint meeting Monday with the San Jose City Council to preview the county's new reopening plan that will be released later this week. The new plan will include across-the-board guidelines for all open businesses, with some more restrictive guidelines for higher risk activities that will be applicable for the long-term. This also means that some businesses will be deemed too high-risk to open up for the time being.

The city of Fremont and the Fremont Unified School District announced Monday that they will collaborate in an effort to provide nutritious meals to youth and families in need over the summer.

According to the city, the FUSD has provided approximately 11,000 to 15,000 Grab & Go meals every week since March 23 in an effort to improve food security for youth under 18 years old in response to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

There were 223,982 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 5,988 coronavirus-related deaths in California as of Tuesday afternoon according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

The United States had 2,623,217 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 127,272 coronavirus-related fatalities as of Tuesday afternoon.
