San Mateo County Reports 58 New Coronavirus Cases, No Deaths

There were 27 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in San Mateo County as of Monday, of which nine were being treated in intensive care units.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County Health reported 58 additional coronavirus cases Monday.

The latest announcement covers a two-day period going back to Saturday and brings the countywide COVID-19 case count to 3,141.

The county reported no new coronavirus-related fatalities, leaving it's COVID-19 death toll at 106.

Elsewhere around the Bay Area and beyond, Contra Costa County will delay reopening various businesses like bars, gyms, indoor museums, hotels and activities like indoor dining that were scheduled to resume operating Saturday due to the recent flare-up of new COVID-19 coronavirus cases, county officials said Monday.

Madison Park Academy students created more than 700 face shields on 3D printers to donate to numerous hospitals including Alta Bates in Berkeley, St. Mary's Medical Center in San Francisco, Mt. Sinai in New York City and Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, among others.

The San Francisco Zoo and Gardens postponed plans for reopening, pushing back a previously planned Monday opening, after the San Francisco Department of Public Health on Friday rescinded approval of "extended phase II" reopening in response to the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

There were 215,581 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 5,935 coronavirus-related deaths in California as of Monday afternoon according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

The United States had 2,564,163 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 125,928 coronavirus-related fatalities as of Monday afternoon.
