Several Laptops Stolen From Cafe in Coordinated Heist

San Mateo police on Monday released images of a group of men who stole three laptops from customers in a downtown San Mateo café earlier this month, according to police.

The three suspects walked into the coffee shop together in the first block of E. Third Avenue on July 6 around 2 p.m. and walked up to the counter to briefly ask about prices, police said.

They subsequently walked together toward the back door, each grabbing a laptop computer from customers seated at tables before fleeing east on East Third Avenue to a waiting vehicle.

Police have been unable to identify the suspects, who were described only as black males 18 to 22 years old, at least one of whom had a mustache. The three stolen laptops have not been recovered.

The suspect vehicle was described as a black or dark-colored four-door sedan or “crossover-style” vehicle.

Images captured by surveillance cameras were released Monday and police are asking anyone who can help identify the three suspects to contact Detective Nick Ryan at (650) 522-7670 or call the police Secret Witness Line
