Suspect Shot By SFPD Officer Near SFO Pleads Not Guilty to Carjacking, Robbery
The charges all stem from a July 26 incident, where Daniel Frederick, 24, stole a Toyota Yaris from the Millbrae BART station parking lot.

A man who was shot by an officer after being involved in a standoff with police last month pleaded not guilty Friday in San Mateo County Superior court.
Daniel Frederick, 24, is charged with attempted carjacking, attempted kidnapping, robbery, car theft, hit and run and resisting arrest, according to prosecutors.
The charges all stem from a July 26 incident, where, at 6:05 a.m., Frederick stole a Toyota Yaris from the Millbrae BART station parking lot, prosecutors said.

Shortly thereafter, Frederick crashed the car into a light pole on South Airport Boulevard at North Access Road, according to prosecutors.

Frederick then hid in bushes nearby, removed his jacket and began walking away onto San Bruno Avenue, prosecutors said.
A San Francisco police officer saw Frederick and detained him but Frederick was able to escape and took off running, prosecutors said.
Frederick ran up to a car that had just exited U.S. Highway 101, got into the car and demanded the driver drive him away, threatening the driver with violence, prosecutors said.
The officer was able to catch up with Frederick and, with a gun drawn, ordered him to stop. Frederick did not obey, grabbed the victim’s backpack and again began running, according to prosecutors.
Other officers soon arrived and set up a perimeter to catch Frederick, prosecutors said.
An officer confronted Frederick but he charged at the officer yelling, “shoot me, kill me,” according to prosecutors.
The officer fired his weapon twice, striking Frederick once in the abdomen, prosecutors said.
Frederick was hospitalized for three days and then released to county jail, where he remains in custody, according to prosecutors.
