Update: Second Arrest Following Tense 'Shelter in Place' Order

SAN BRUNO - SMPD Detectives have made a second arrest in the case, in San Bruno. San Bruno PD assisted in the case.

The identities of both suspects are expected to be released later today.

Earlier:

SAN MATEO - San Mateo police have lifted a shelter-in-place order this morning in a neighborhood after a search for a burglary suspect proved unsuccessful in an incident where police earlier shot at and arrested a second suspect.

Around 2:45 a.m., officers responded to a report of an interrupted residential burglary on Greenoak Court. Responding officers were able to detain a female suspect who was trying to flee the scene, police said.

Police said she tried to escape by purposely driving her vehicle at an officer, who was approaching on foot. The officer fired his gun, but the woman was not hit by the gunfire and was taken into custody. There were no reported injuries in the incident, police said.

Officers remained on the scene to search for a man believed to still be hiding in the area, but they did not locate him and believe he is no longer in the area. P

olice said there is no longer any danger to the public and no longer a need for residents to shelter in place.
