13th Coronavirus Death, Shelter-In-Place Order Extended In Marin
In addition to extending the shelter-in-place order, Marin will also extend orders on park closures and restrictions on short-term rentals.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — Health officials on Wednesday extended shelter-in-place orders, but eased some restrictions as coronavirus cases and deaths continue to climb in Marin County and across the Bay Area.
Construction projects and real estate transactions, certain outdoor businesses and some outdoor recreational facilities that were previously closed will be allowed to reopen under the new order in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, as well as the city of Berkeley.
"We can only take these first steps because of you, our community, and the way we came together, to agree to shelter at home," said Dr. Matt Willis, the county's public health officer.

In addition to extending the shelter-in-place order, Marin will also extend its public health orders regarding park closures and restrictions on the use of short-term rentals. All three orders will take affect May 4.
The county's public health order requiring face coverings will remain in place until further notice.
"These changes reflect that the shelter-in-place order is not an on-off switch," Willis said. "The number of activities we can engage in — while the general rule is we are remaining sheltered at home — will increase slowly and sequentially over time. The number of businesses that may come back online, and when, is based on the ability for them to conduct business safely for both customers and employees."
