2 Arrested In Marin County Probation Sweep

The unannounced probation searches took place in the city of San Rafael and surrounding areas within unincorporated Marin.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – Two people were arrested when the Marin County Probation Department conducted 29 unannounced probation searches Tuesday in the city of San Rafael and surrounding areas within unincorporated Marin.

The multi-agency operation was conducted due to an increase in gang-related violence and activity, according to the county. The department's Coordination of Probation Enforcement (COPE) team, along with Marin County Sheriff's Office, San Rafael Police Department and the California Department of Rehabilitation, targeted individuals serving a portion of their prison sentence in the community under mandatory, community-based supervision.

Four people were found out of compliance due to possession of gang, drug or alcohol paraphernalia, officials said. One Marin City probationer was arrested for failing to report and maintain contact with a probation officer. Another probationer was arrested in San Rafael for having an outstanding warrant for domestic violence.
