2 Men Arrested For Residential, Vehicle Burglaries: San Rafael Police

Juan Alberto Martinez, 26, of Richmond and Manuel Quinonez, 23, of Oakland were booked into Marin County Jail.

SAN RAFAEL, CA – Police in San Rafael on Friday arrested two men suspected of committing residential and vehicle burglaries.

At 2:35 p.m., police received a call from a resident in the area of Manuel T. Freitas Parkway and Arlene Terrace who came home to find two burglars in their house, police said.

The victim saw the burglars run from the house and was able to provide a detailed description of them and their vehicle.

Officers responded to the victim's home. Meanwhile, another officer on eastbound Interstate Highway 580 positioned his vehicle in traffic in an attempt to locate the fleeing suspects.

As that officer observed traffic, he spotted the suspect vehicle speeding on the right-hand shoulder of the highway. It appeared to the officer that the suspects saw him and tried to re-enter traffic, police said.

The officer pulled up behind the suspects and pulled them over near the San Quentin State Prison off-ramp.

The suspects were identified as 26-year-old Juan Alberto Martinez of Richmond and 23-year-old Manuel Quinonez of Oakland, police said.

Both men were arrested without incident. They were allegedly in possession of stolen property, some of which was reported stolen the day before from vehicles.

At 5 p.m., police received another report of a residential burglary on Wimbledon Way in San Rafael. The description of the stolen property matched items that Martinez and Quinonez had, police said.

Both men were booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of residential and auto burglaries, as well as drug-related offenses.
