9 Total Coronavirus Cases Confirmed In Marin County

Nearly 100 people were tested for COVID-19 through Marin's drive-through testing site, according to county officials.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Health officials confirmed four additional cases of the new coronavirus in Marin County on Sunday, bringing the county's total to five.

Nearly 100 people were tested for coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, Thursday and Friday through the county's drive-through testing site, according to county officials. Six of the people tested positive for the virus.

In an effort to limit the spread of coronavirus in the community, Marin County Public Health on Sunday directed all hospitals in the county to exclude visitors and non-essential personnel from entry, including most visitors of patients.

"We recognize hospitals have implemented precautions already, and offer this to ensure a countywide standard to respond to the pandemic," the public health alert said. "Certain exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis according to hospital policy."

The hospitals in the county are MarinHealth Medical Center in Greenbrae, Kaiser Permanente San Rafael Medical Center in San Rafael, Novato Community Hospital (Sutter Health) in Novato, and Kentfield Rehabilitation Hospital in Kentfield.

Marin Public Health also issued a public health advisory recommending people limit their use of public transportation to essential trips only.
