Child Care Tax Headed Toward November Ballot
Supervisors will consider placing the voter-sponsored Marin County Child Care Initiative on the Nov. 3 general election ballot.
The measure would create a countywide parcel tax of 5 cents per building square foot, capped at 100,000 square feet, for 15 years. County officials estimate the tax would generate about $12.5 million annually to help expand child care programs and reduce costs for working families.

Public Financing Considered For Auburn Grove Housing
The board will hold a public hearing on financing for the proposed Auburn Grove development near San Rafael.
The 79-unit project would include 16 affordable homes and supporting public infrastructure. Supervisors are being asked to authorize the use of the California Municipal Finance Authority's BOLD financing program for the project.
County To Receive Sea Level Rise Report
Supervisors will review the final results of a countywide sea level rise study examining how Marin communities can work together to prepare for rising seas.
The report includes recommendations on regional collaboration, governance and long-term adaptation strategies.
King Mountain Summit Could Become Public Open Space
Acting as the Marin County Open Space District Board of Directors, supervisors will consider accepting the donation of a 161-acre King Mountain property and a $2 million stewardship fund from the Shelby Cullom Davis Charitable Fund through the Marin Open Space Trust.
If approved, the acquisition would permanently protect the summit from development and eventually open the area to public access as part of an expanded King Mountain Open Space Preserve.
Mental Health Service Fees
The board will also consider updating the county's schedule of charges for county-operated mental health and substance use treatment services to comply with state requirements.
The meeting will also include appointments to the Civilian Oversight Commission and Personnel Commission, along with a proclamation recognizing July as Plastic Free July Month in Marin County.
The meeting begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the Board of Supervisors chamber at the Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive in San Rafael. Meetings are open to the public and streamed live on the county's website.
