Alleged Bicycle Thief Arrested, Found With Meth In San Rafael

SAN RAFAEL, CA – A man was arrested Thursday after allegedly stealing a bicycle in San Rafael, police said.
The victim reportedly locked his purple Specialized mountain bike around 7:30 a.m. Monday on the corner of Fourth Street and A Street in San Rafael. About three hours later, he found his bike lock cut and the bicycle missing, according to the San Rafael Police Department
After reviewing video surveillance from a nearby business, San Rafael police Sgt. Scott Eberle said authorities identified Benjamin R. Bleazard, a 27-year-old from San Rafael, and another suspect allegedly steal the bicycle. The video captured one suspect acting as a lookout, as the other suspect cut the bike lock and rode away, he said.

Bleazard was found Thursday with a small amount of methamphetamine, Eberle said, but the stolen bicycle was not recovered. Eberle said Bleazard confessed to the theft but would not provide the location of the stolen bicycle.
Bleazard was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of conspiracy, theft and possession of meth. Police have identified the second suspect and are actively looking for him, Eberle said.
