Body Found Near China Camp Turns Into Homicide Investigation
The discovery of a body last week near China Camp State Park in San Rafael has evolved into a homicide investigation.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — The discovery of a body last week near China Camp State Park in Marin County has evolved into a homicide investigation.
A possible medical emergency was reported around 8 a.m. Friday in the area of Miwok Meadows at 1400 North San Pedro Road near China Camp State Park in San Rafael, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office. Deputies found a body off the roadway, which falls under the jurisdiction of California State Parks.
California State Parks requested the sheriff's office serve as lead agency in the investigation. The California Highway Patrol has also assisted with the case.

The unidentified victim was a 20- to 30-year-old Hispanic man between 5-foot-8 and 6 feet tall and weighing between 140 and 160 pounds, according to the sheriff's office. No other details about the death have been released.
Sheriff's investigators asked anyone who was in the China Camp area Thursday night into Friday, or anyone else who may have information about the case, to contact the Investigations Division 415-473-7265. Investigators also asked to hear from residents living on North San Pedro Road or Pt. San Pedro Road who have surveillance cameras facing the roadway.
