Couple Arrested On Theft, Drug-Related Charges In Sausalito

Police allegedly found meth in the couple's car, which was stolen in San Anselmo. The license plate was stolen from a vehicle in San Rafael.

SAUSALITO, CA – Sausalito police arrested a couple from San Francisco on multiple theft and drug-related charges early Friday.

Sausalito police Officer Justin Ritz saw a man on a bicycle leaning through the passenger window of a 2008 Nissan Altima in the 100 block of Spencer Avenue around 1:20 a.m., Lt. Bill Fraass said. The bicyclist rode away when he noticed the officer, who discovered the car's license plate was from a vehicle stolen Thursday in San Rafael.

When Ritz contacted Christina Cox, 34, of San Francisco, who was sitting in the driver's seat of the Nissan, the bicyclist, identified as Samuel Cox, 39, of San Francisco, returned to the car, Fraass said.

Police determined the car was stolen in San Anselmo Tuesday. Police also found methamphetamine, narcotics paraphernalia, a stolen California identification card, two suspected stolen credit cards and other suspected stolen property, including the bicycle, Fraass said.

Samuel Cox was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, and a no bail felony warrant out of San Mateo County for a parole violation. He was booked into Marin County Jail. His wife, Christina Cox, was arrested and later released on suspicion of possession of stolen property and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
