SAN RAFAEL, CA — A 55-year-old San Rafael woman died Monday after she was stabbed multiple times, and police have arrested her daughter on suspicion of murder, investigators announced Tuesday.
In a news release, the department said officers and paramedics rushed to an apartment complex in Terra Linda on reports of a fight and possible stabbing in progress. Officers arrived at the scene on Cresta Way shortly before 5 p.m. and were directed to an apartment balcony. Police said they saw a woman holding a knife in her hand and standing net to a woman who appeared to be injured and bleeding.
Officers said the suspect was not responsive to officers from the balcony, and another team forced their way inside the apartment's front door and took the woman into custody. Medics from the San Rafael Fire Department provided care to the victim and rushed her to a nearby hospital. Despite intensive efforts by hospital staff, police said the woman was pronounced dead an hour and a half later.
